Okay, so it's been forever since I've updated you all on my spinstering adventures. I think last I posted, I let everyone know that I, for at least the time being, am residing in an avacado house in a town called Mugwump (okay, so it's called Agaway, but it sure feels like a Mugwump to me). At least the avacado house has air conditioning.
I've been searching relentlessly for a new apartment, and I may have found something (finally). It's a small two bedroom spitting distance from the college, on a property called Tekoa Mountain Apartments. I looked at them last year and found them seriously icky. However, they've really turned the property around since then. I wouldn't say they're the nicest place around, but the proximity to the college will be nice, since I have to now walk the dog. Alas, the dog and I will be mourning the loss of the fenced in yard for a good long while.
The place is smaller than my last apartment, believe it or not. But, it's on the ground floor, and it's got a lot of nice green space to walk the little brat around. It's on Rte 20, so there's quite a bit of street noise. However, the particular unit I looked at is farther back on the property, so it's not as bad. If I don't sound enamored with the place, it's because I'm not. I've come to the conclusion that I had the perfect apartment before--a one bedroom with a fenced in yard and a landlord who likes my strange little black dog. I will not be finding such a place again, no matter how long I look, or how far afield I go (I've actually been looking at places that would be at least a half-hour commute or more, one way). This place will do. And, worse case scenario, I can look for something better next year if it turns out that I absolutely hate it.
Aside from the apartment hunting, which has been exhausting and depressing, I haven't had much else to do except start to get ready for classes, and read trashy romance novels. I've been burning through books like nobody's business since I have no cable anymore. And, Teddy's getting quite spoiled having me at home so much. Oh well, the poor dog is in for a rude awakening come September.
Well, that's all for now in the wonderful world of spinstering.
